We could be Grecian Lovers - Our big giveaway!

Hey Lovers! I hope you are all doing super and having a lovely day. I am so excited about this week's blog post, because I get to announce a collaboration giveaway with some other great Greek brands.  I've teamed up with Elena, from @grecian_chic, and Daphne from @daphnep_jewelry to arrange the cutest summer goodie bag for just one lucky winner on Instagram.   About the designers: Grecian Chic Elena Zournatzi was born and raised in Greece, has studied Graphic Design at Kingston University in London, and then took a Postgraduate 2D Cartoon Animation course at Central Saint Martins in London. Alongside being a graphic designer and illustrator, designing for Museums in Greece and Cyprus, Elena started the Grecian Chic brand in 2011. ...

The road to recovery

Hey lovers I hope you are all happy and well. It's been almost a year (well, exactly 11 months on the 6th of May) since my marriage broke. In half. Never to be fixed again. While I know that maybe not many people would open their bleeding heart to the world over such a personal matter, I have found it to be therapeutic, and important to share to other women who have experienced the same thing. Consider this group therapy. These are my personal lessons learnt, and my experience may be very different to yours or others people's divorce, so you may or may not relate or agree. I do not criticise or judge others who have taken a different journey,...

Recipe for Greek Easter sweet bread (Tsoureki)

Hey lovers... It's that wonderful time of year again, Easter (or Pas-ha in Greek). Whether you are religious or not, it is a time which represents change in seasons (summer, I've missed you!) and for me, growing up as Greek Orthodox in South Africa, Easter is by far the most important and most enthusiastically celebrated religious festival on the Greek Orthodox calendar. It's a time when the whole family comes together, we attend numerous masses at church, for days before and after Easter day itself. The most important thing, as in any Greek family, is the food. Lots and lots of food. Too much of it, mainly because it's foods which are difficult and time consuming, so mom only makes...

Colombian Collaboration

Hey lovers... As you know, if you've been following me for a while. I am a big advocate of slow fashion. I feel it is my duty, as an independent designer but also as a responsible consumer to educate and inform other consumers about the value of craftsmanship and supporting small communities and businesses through our purchases. What is slow fashion?  Today’s mainstream fashion industry relies on globalised, mass production where garments are transformed from the design stage to the retail floor in only a few weeks (Fast Fashion). With retailers selling the latest fashion trends at very low prices, consumers are easily swayed to purchase more than they need. But this overconsumption comes with a hidden price tag, and...

Beauty 101 from women around the world

There's something we can learn from women around the world, and the older I get, the more I care about delaying the ageing process, or simply ageing well and elegantly.  Youth is wasted on the young! I am a big advocate for less is more, in every aspect of life, and that includes going under the knife. While I am not against it, and I believe it's every woman right to do whatever makes her feel food, we should also place greater emphasis, from a younger age about what we put into our bodies and onto our skin. You cannot keep a fruit's skin looking tight and beautiful for very long if it has started rotting from the pip. Here...

Change in policy

Hey lovers You know I keep an open dialogue between us, and try my best to keep you all informed of how I work and why I work that way. I am an independent designer, which means I do everything myself. My products are all handcrafted locally by Cypriot artisans, with leathers I source from Greece and Italy.  I do not keep any stock, as all my products are made-to-order. You make your selection, I order it from my workshop (which consists of 4 people, 2 of which are pensioners), I collect and send it by post to you. That is the full circle. Due to the nature of  my products, I've rightfully been advised that LFC should not have a...

How to change your lifestyle in just one month

Hey lovers I have recently came across an article by blogger Svetlana Pokrevskaya who makes a bold promise to all those who carry out her plan: in just one month's time, you can change your lifestyle. The advise seems basic enough, and nothing you haven't heard before. The challenge is to actually DO the list, and stick with a new routine. They say any habit can be broken or formed in 21 days. That's 21 consistent days lovers.... As she explains, "Recently I received a letter from one of my readers. 'Hi, Svetlana! I want to change my life based on your lifestyle!' Wow. I began to wonder — do I actually have a specific "lifestyle"? Well, it seems I have! And straight away I wanted to...

Lucky little red seeds

Customs and traditions around the New Year’s Eve and January the 1st symbolize the eternal longing of humankind for joy and good fortune, and Greece has its own unique traditions pledged around these two days, aiming to cast away evil spirits and bring lots of good fortune and blessings into the lives of the people. An ancient symbol of fertility, regeneration and prosperity, Greek housewives hang the pomegranate on or above their doors throughout the 12 days of Christmas. Right before midnight comes on New Year’s Eve, all family members get out of the house and the lights are shut down to let go of the old year. Once the clock strikes twelve, someone considered to be lucky and happy...

I am enough

Good morning lovers I saw an amazing talk on youtube by Marisa Peer (for Mind Valley) titled The Biggest Disease Affecting Humanity: 'I am not enough'. Low self esteem is not something we are born with. It is something we are taught, beit by our parents, our peers, the media etc. By this concept, it also means you can learn to be confident.  Peer suggests writing 'I am enough' on your mirror in lipstick or marker. Everytime you look at yourself read it out loud. Say it until every cell in your body believes it. I've being doing this for about a month and can honestly say it's a great way to start and end the day, with a positive...
